Vocational grammar school — Health and social services

in cooperation with the Ludwig-Erhard-Schule. Lessons take place at the Ludwig-Erhard-Schule location.

The vocational grammar school leads to the general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur). It combines academic content with a general education and is therefore a very good basis for an apprenticeship or a course of study. In addition to general subjects (German, English, mathematics, etc.), health, education and psychology are offered as special subjects or basic subjects.

Admission to year 11 (11/1) of a vocational grammar school is open to those who have a qualified secondary school leaving certificate I or an equivalent qualification with an average grade (arithmetic mean of the grades of the compulsory and elective subjects) of at least 3.0, whereby none of the subjects German, 1st foreign language and mathematics may be graded lower than “sufficient” or

  • General higher education entrance qualification through Abitur examination after year 13
  • Alternatively: School-based part of the entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences after year 12.
    Together with a one-year, supervised internship, this leads to the entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences.

3 years of full-time teaching

Year 11 (introductory phase)

Learning takes place in class throughout year 11. Here, students who come to the vocational grammar school from different types of schools are familiarized with the upper secondary school system, among other things; in addition, a harmonization of the requirements is made possible. At the end of year 11, students are promoted to year 12 in accordance with the provisions of Section 54 (4) of the school regulations for public vocational schools.

Years 12 and 13 (qualification phase)

During the two-year qualification phase, students acquire the prerequisites for admission to the Abitur examination; lessons take place in the course system, differentiating between performance subjects and basic subjects, which are selected according to the subject combination tables.

Foreign languages

Students must have at least “sufficient” knowledge of the first foreign language; no prior knowledge is required for lessons in the second foreign language. Two foreign languages are taught in the introductory phase; in the qualification phase, the first foreign language is either an academic subject or a basic subject, the second foreign language is always a basic subject.

Subjects of the written Abitur examination

In each case, three performance subjects resulting from the chosen combination of performance subjects from year 12 onwards. The following subjects can be written examination subjects: Health, Education and Psychology, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, English, German and Information Processing.

If the number of applicants exceeds the number of school places, an admission procedure is carried out in which all applicants (including applicants with a promotion certificate to year 11 of a grammar school) are ranked according to their grade point average.
