On the Wednesday of the festival week, the audience in the sold-out Schloss Theater Neuwied experienced an evening of theater that was not only entertaining, but also deeply moving. The play “Alice”, written and directed by our esteemed colleague Dr. Thomas Schweikert, transported the audience into a world of emotional intensity. In the leading role as Alice, our trainee teacher Jennifer Blath gave an outstanding performance. The story, which hit straight to the heart, tells of Alice, who receives a letter from her mother in need of care after 25 years. An appeal to her humanity, a plea for help. But what does humanity mean in this day and age? This question runs like a red thread through the play and is explored in moving encounters and stories. The performances of our pupils, who shared their own stories on stage, were particularly moving.

With great authenticity and impressive presence, they conveyed what humanity feels like in everyday life and what it really means. These real experiences gave the evening added depth and made it a unique experience. The form of the play contributed significantly to its impact. Music and drama alternated, reinforcing each other and repeatedly creating goosebump moments. The musicians of the “Best Band” from our college thrilled the audience with their passionate playing and underlined the emotional power of the evening. “Alice” was more than just a play – it was an evening that resonates, that touches and that inspires reflection on the meaning of humanity. We would like to thank Dr. Thomas Schweikert for his extraordinary directorial work and the profound play. Special thanks also go to Jennifer Blath and all the performers who created an unforgettable evening with their talent and commitment.
