To mark its 125th anniversary, the Alice Salomon School Linz hosted a celebration
at the Stadthalle Linz. The anniversary offered space for retrospection, encounters and
a shared view of the school’s educational mission, which has been characterized by humanity, commitment and responsibility for more than a
century.
The event highlighted the vibrancy of the school community and the close
ties between all those involved. Pupils and colleagues
put together a varied program that impressed with musical contributions, creative elements
and great personal commitment.
Guests included the representative of the Supervisory and Service Directorate,
Michael Devesa, the Mayor of the City of Linz, Helmut Muthers, the responsible head of the Neuwied district school department, Philipp Rasbach, and Lana Horstmann, member of the state parliament.
The Rhineland-Palatinate Minister of Education, Sven Teuber, also sent a video message.
In a discussion with the educational scientist Prof. Dr. Klaus Hurrelmann and the
educational researcher Dr. Sarah Fichtner, central questions of the school’s educational mission were addressed and reflected upon.
Following the ceremony, the principal Doris Schulte-Schwering gave a tour of the school premises. The home economics department laid out an extensive buffet, while Prof. Dr. Sebastian Barsch provided further impetus with his lecture on the topic of “Between care and participation”
The anniversary made it clear what the Alice Salomon School Linz has stood for for 125 years:
for education with attitude, for collaborative learning and for a school that
assumes social responsibility. Our thanks go to all those who prepared,
accompanied and helped to shape this day and are therefore part of the history of this school.
