Exciting insights at the HACK company

On 11.04.25, class BF1EV24A and their teachers Gertrud Buslay-Weber, Birgit Kessel and Andrea Weingarten made their way to the HACK company to find out more about the profession of food technology specialist.

As soon as we were welcomed by Ms. Kathrin Jakoby, it became clear that HACK not only bakes, but also works with precision, technology and passion. After a friendly welcome, we went straight to the hygiene airlock – with protective clothing, shoe cleaning and face masks, it was clear that hygiene is the top priority here!

Mr. Borowski then guided the group through the production halls and explained the job description of a food technology specialist. Particularly impressive were the modern machines that coat cake bases with liquid chocolate coating, cut cakes precisely and process large quantities of dough. One highlight: the robots that effortlessly move pallets of ingredients weighing tons through the halls. The huge storage areas with different temperature zones, from the normal cold storage room to the fascinating deep-freeze warehouse, also made for big eyes – and cold noses.

In between, the pupils were allowed to compete in a small competition: Who can fold a cake tray the fastest? Not so easy – but definitely entertaining!

At the end of the day, there was a well-deserved highlight for everyone with a sweet tooth: Fresh cake straight from the production line. A sweet end to an exciting day.

The company HACK offers apprenticeships and internships – so for some students, this day could have been more than just an insight: perhaps a first step into their professional future.

The BF1EV24A class would like to thank Ms. Jakoby, Mr. Borowski and the entire HACK team for the friendly welcome, the great insights and – of course – the delicious cake!
