For me, Europe means…

On the occasion of the EU Project Day, Lana Horstmann, Member of the State Parliament, visited the BBS Alice Salomon

Europe and the EU play an important role at BBS Alice Salomon. This is demonstrated not least by the numerous activities within the great EU program: Erasmus +.

And so the students presentedThe students of the vocational preparation year of the member of state parliament proudly presented their 3-week internship in Italy, which was carried out for the first time this year as an innovative youth project at our school. “It is simply important to me that all pupils The Erasmus+ program is open to everyone at our school, from the very young ones in the vocational preparation year to the older ones in BOS 2 or in the vocational schools,” said Headmistress Doris Schulte-Schwering. And Lana Horstmann presented the participants with the EU certificate.

Afterwards, students and teachers had the opportunity to ask the young politician questions and discuss with her. Personal and political issues were discussed.

“How did you decide to become a politician? And what are your main tasks?” “Why are you doing this to yourself?” “When will social and nursing professions finally be paid better?” “And why isn’t the 49 euro ticket available for all pupils, including those who live near the school?”

Ms. Horstmann was also able to view an exhibition in the foyer of the school entitled: “Europe means to me …”. Here, pupils, teachers and even janitor Rings had written down a statement about what they associate with Europe and made this statement, together with a photo of themselves, available to the school community.

Overall, students and teachers alike were impressed by the commitment of the politician, who is only 35 years old. And Ms. Horstmann expressed her appreciation for the exciting activities that take place at this school. “I will certainly tell others about it,” – said Ms. Horstmann.
