Vocational school for home economics meets technical school for home economics managers

At the Alice Salomon School in Linz am Rhein, the vocational students in home economics met with the specialist students for home economics managers to find out about the varied and diverse tasks in home economics and prospects in home economics professions. On the other hand, this meeting enabled the future trainers to get to know trainees. Our vocational students planned and organized the meeting. They thought about the room design, decoration, catering and the supporting program.

With beautiful seasonal decorations and home-baked waffles of different varieties with various toppings, the students were welcomed to the Alice Salomon School. Hearty food from the soup pot, a seasonal pumpkin soup prepared by HBF EV 20 with home-baked baguette, was also served. Thank you very much for the delicious food!

As a supporting program, the vocational students prepared a small presentation of the professional field of housekeeping. The various housekeeping areas, kitchen and service, where meals are prepared and food is stored, prepared and served, cleaning, where the technology of cleaning systems and cleaning procedures is learned and how a good result is achieved with minimum energy expenditure and maximum productivity. The laundry area, where clothes are cleaned, cared for and made ready for the wardrobe, and the care area, where the people you work for are supported, cared for and looked after in their everyday lives, were not to be missed.

There are many opportunities for personal development in home economics: It starts with vocational school in the dual system or school-based training at a higher vocational college and, if desired, leads to various further training options, e.g. to become a home economics manager, which in turn can be continued in a degree course. Getting to know this further training option and learning about the reality of the vocational and technical school for HBL students was an important and impressive experience for the vocational students. The vocational students were able to gain an insight into the management tasks in the home economics service sector. They learned about the responsibilities in quality assurance, personnel requirements planning with responsibility for duty and vacation schedules and tasks such as environmental compatibility, sustainability and, of course, business management thinking.

An interesting and entertaining afternoon for everyone involved!

We would like to thank the vocational school for home economics for organizing and hosting this afternoon!
